Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing at Heidi-Alm on Falkert is like a high-altitude training camp - and one of the healthiest sports out there! Enjoy the benefit of two completely different cross-country ski trails.

Our 6 km long high-altitude trail. Starting and finishing point is at the ski lifts, right next to Heidi's Schnee-Alm. The high-altitude trail across a beautiful sunny slope ("Schweinebichl") with fantastic panoramic views not only serves as perfect training ground for Nordic ski enthusiasts but also makes a picturesque winter hiking terrain.

Our second trail is around 500 m long and runs across the frozen Lake Falkertsee. The trails are groomed as soon as the snow and ice conditions allow. Glide through areas of awsome natural beauty while taking in the stunning views of the Karawanken and Nockberge mountains.

Tobogganing

There are several opportunities for tobogganing fun at Heidi Alm. Night sledding, for example, on the 1 km long, groomed toboggan run right by Lake Falkertsee, offers a memorable experience under the stars on illuminated tracks until 10 pm

And of course you'll find plenty of fun whizzing down the hill in front of the Heidi Hotel on a sled, a Blattl slide or a Zipflbob. You can get back up the hill comfortably, quickly and free of charge on the magic carpet.

Snowshoeing

At 1,800 meters, a true winter paradise awaits with sweeping views of the wide, open Carinthian valleys. The surrounding mountains of the Nockberge Biosphere Park offer the best conditions for extensive snowshoe hikes and are just waiting to be explored.

Snowshoescan be hired on site. There's also the option to join guided hike.

tip

Ice skating on the lake

When it gets really cold, the hard-working men from the Heidi Hotel make the ice on Lake Falkertsee and Heidi Park pond as smooth as glass. Ideal for ice skating and ice-stock activities such as curling.

Winter hiking trails

There are few experiences like a winter hike on a cold, clear day on the Heidi Alm Falkert. We especially recommend these two beautiful paths: whether you follow

our cross-country ski trail, the high-altitude trackacross a beautiful sunny slope ("Schweinebichl") or

the second loop past Seehütte hut, Lake Falkertsee and Zirbenhütte hut through a romantically snow-covered stone pine forest, you'll find peace and quiet, fresh mountain air and magnificent views.

Pony riding in winter

An all-time favorite activity with the younger guests of the Heidi Hotel awaits three times a week: pony riding in the snow. Heading out on horseback in winter is an incredibly fun experience not just for the little riders but also for our ponies who enjoy very much being out in the fresh air and appreciate the extra attention and care they receive from their littel friends before and after the rides.
